All Shook Up

All Shook Up was the last show I did for the first year of my course and the second show I did at the Garrick.

This American jukebox musical was made in 2004 from a book by Joe DiPietro, it was based on Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and it featured many songs by Elvis Presley including: All Shook Up; Jailhouse Rock; C'mon Everybody; Devil In Disguise; A Little Less Conversation; Can't Help Falling In Love; Burnin' Love and loads more musical hits.

This show was set in the midwest during the 1950's and was about a motor-cycling, guitar-playing, hip-swevelling "roustabout" named Chad (played by Daniel Roberts) who is firstly introduced being realeased from jail (the scene which contains the song Jailhouse Rock). The next scene reveals a dreary little town's "honky tonk" (known as Sylvia's Honky Tonk) where the people are shown to be dull, gloomy and heart-broken as they sing the Blues (Heartbreak Hotel), until they get a jumpy surprise from the noise of a motor cycle, whose ownership belongs to Chad. Chad's arrival in the town transforms the town's overwhelming, dull, grey depression into a highly colourful, bright, jolly, toe-tapping town of rock and roll (C'mon Everybody). However their mayor Matilda Hyde (played by Kyra Moore) along with her Sheriff Earl (played by Lee Fisher) (who later reveals himself against Matilda's stern and strict demands against the people and actually in love with her) does not approve of Chad entering their town and spreading happiness and loud music around.

My part was one of the ensemble townspeople where I danced and sung in unison with the other ensemble townspeople.
